BUSCAMOS: Microsoft Fabric Senior Data Engineer and Data Architect

RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS :

As the Azure / Microsoft Fabric Senior Data Engineer and Data Architect, you would play a key role in building BVI’s new data platform from the ground up. You would be responsible for standing up the complete Microsoft Fabric platform, fully integrated with Azure DevOps, and for delivering the first process data models that will power the business’s operational and commercial reporting.

In this hands-on, project-driven role, you would own the end-to-end implementation of a medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver and Gold), from environment set-up, security and CI/CD through to the fact and dimension tables and KPI logic consumed by the reports. You would work closely with the Reporting Workstream, translating report designs into data requirements and ensuring the platform is built on solid engineering best practices that will allow it to scale.

Key responsibilities

  • Enable Microsoft Fabric features and stand up Dev and Prod workspaces for each layer, with the appropriate permissions and access model.
  • Set up Git integration and deployment pipelines in Azure DevOps, defining repository structure, branching strategy and Dev-to-Prod promotion for each layer.
  • Bronze layer: mirror the Staging database, land the manual Excel inputs, and ingest any tables that may be missing from other ERPs.
  • Fine-tune the Bronze and Silver requirements against the report designs handed over by the Reporting Workstream, and sequence the resulting deltas.
  • Silver layer: build the conformed entities shared across reports (e.g. part master, sales orders, inventory, cost and shop orders).
  • Gold layer: build the fact and dimension tables and the KPI logic required, schedule attainment, inventory overview and SKU segmentation.
  • Apply and document data engineering best practices (naming conventions, data quality checks, security, performance and cost optimisation) so the platform can scale to future process models.
  • Collaborate closely with the Reporting Workstream, IT and business stakeholders to validate data definitions and ensure the models meet reporting needs.

Technical skills

  • Senior-level experience as a Data Engineer, with a proven track record of delivering end-to-end data platform projects on Azure.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse/Warehouse, Data Pipelines, Dataflows Gen2, Notebooks, Mirroring) and the wider Azure data stack.
  • Solid experience implementing medallion (Bronze / Silver / Gold) architectures and dimensional modelling (fact and dimension tables, KPI logic).
  • Experience with Azure DevOps: Git integration, branching strategies, CI/CD and deployment pipelines across Dev and Prod environments.
  • Strong SQL and PySpark / Python skills.
  • Experience working with ERP data (e.g. part master, sales orders, inventory, cost, shop orders); manufacturing or operations background is a plus.
  • Strong project expertise: ability to plan, structure and deliver a platform build autonomously, managing priorities and dependencies with other workstreams.
  • High level of English, minimum C1+ (written and spoken).
  • Azure / Microsoft certifications are highly valued, as evidence of applying best practices beyond specific project experience (e.g. Microsoft Certified: Fabric Data Engineer Associate (DP-700), Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate (DP-600), Azure Data Engineer Associate (DP-203)).
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with both technical and business stakeholders.
